I'm surprised by how nobody I know from High School is on Twitter yet. Am I that far ahead of the curve now?

New Project

Well, today after 170 hours of designery work, a client just pushed my updates to his site live.

Another podcast portal? Yes!
To be frank, podcast portals suck. Like really suck. Visualy to conceptualy they are about as lifeless as you can get with a subject like new media. CastRoller however, while being a podcast directory, throws that notion for a loop with it's ability to manage your feeds, suggest podcasts you might like, and share podcasts with your friends.

It's not enough to list podcasts on a website, but add sharing and you have something diffrent, something with life.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Second Go.

Jan. 12th, 2009 | 08:47 am

Done before, years ago, but now I'm looking for a redo.  So if you have time, run through the questions and answer some.

What would you and others say are five of your personality pluses?

What are the ten most interesting things you have done or that have happened to you?

What do you do for a living and how did you end up doing it?

What do you like/love about your current job/career?

How does your job/career use your skills and talents, and what projects are you working on right now that best showcase them?

What career successes are you most proud of having accomplished (from current position and past jobs)?

What new skills have you learned in the last year?

What obstacles have you overcome to get where you are today, both professionally and personally, and what essential lessons have you learned from some of your mistakes?

What training/education have you completed and what did you gain from those experiences?

What professional organizations are you associated with and in what ways_member, board, treasurer, or the like?

How do you spend your time outside of work, including hobbies, interests, sports, family, and volunteer activities?

In what ways are you making a difference in people's lives?

John's Move. New Place is Ours.

Nov. 7th, 2008 | 05:28 pm

So I got a call today from the Super-Nintendo at our new residence. We can officially move in anytime, at 392 Wilson Ave, Suite 3, Toronto ON, M3H 1S9. We'll likely do so on the 30th. Sarah is elated we have a place to live, rather then living in the car. I'm of mixed feelings about how good this whole moving thing will be.

I hate change.

They did call and offer us a different unit, one that's being fully renovated but not ready right now so that someone else could move in sooner as we wont be till Dec. We said no though as we had not seen the unit.

John's Move. Finding a new place.

Nov. 6th, 2008 | 08:26 pm
location: London, On
mood: busybusy

We're moving. Sarah is going to Seneca in January, and I'm going to try and find some substantial work, maybe with a firm.
Our move out date is December 30th and hopefully we'll be in our new place that evening.

So with a month left we headed to Toronto to find a place. We had looked through magazines and papers for a while and nothing really popped out for us. So I decided to help and went to viewit.ca at Bill's suggestion, and found a few places that we both really liked. I guess I should quantify what we we're looking for in a place. Sarah was interested in being close to the York U campus in the north end, a balcony, 3rd floor or higher, and 600+sq.ft. I wanted something closer to downtown, near a subway station, hardwood, and in a high rise.

So with a list of potential places in hand we took a trip into the city to check them out first hand. But as we approached the city and started making calls we discovered most of the places we'd short listed were unavailable or not priced as advertised. We ended up with 3 places to check out in the end, and started at the farthest north.

The first place we went too is two blocks from Wilson station, and only one station and a bus ride from York U. It is a really nice place, but it wasn't perfect. It was too far from downtown for me, the bathroom was tiny, and the kitchen was kind of a mess. There was also no balcony, and no guest parking. But we did have laundry on site and a storage unit on site. It was also $845 a month + utilities, $45 more then I wanted to pay. But overall it was an okay place.

The second place on the list we didn't get too. We started walking from Eglinington station and after 40 mins we weren't even half way there yet. Nor did we like the neighborhood. So we took a bus back to the station and headed downtown for lunch.

Once we finished lunch we checked out the last place on our list. Near St.Clair station, it was bigger but had bug issues and had that horrible parquet flooring. So that was eliminated. We walked back to the station and hit up buildings along the way but nothing was available. So I grabbed a current copy of the rent guide and started calling places, again to no avail.

In the end we filled out some papers for the first place we saw. Which I'm not entirely thrilled with, but we need something.
Next week we should know if we're approved, I'm sure they wont have a problem with Sarah, but they didn't seem to like my occupation.

Anyways... lets hope it works out and we don't live in the street.

Star Trek

In case you hadn't heard, the new Enterprise bridge is in fact an Apple store.

Also, the new captain Kirk looks like a douche. Could they have found a cast with any more facial work done? Micheal Jackson perhaps?

Where we do what we do.

Post your desktop type site. As in your desk desktop.
Kind of cute, I like looking at other people's interior design choices.

I posted mine, can you spot it?

It was good, but not great.
I'd still recommend seeing it when it comes out tomorow.

Also, if you have a cellphone you should sign up for Twitter.
And if you already have a twitter account you should add me. http://twitter.com/picard102
